What Tiki Tours Can Do
Tiki Tours is designed around one goal: making it easier to explore Aotearoa's trails, huts, and campsites — whether you are planning from home or navigating from a ridgeline with no signal.
Here is what the app offers:
Core Features (Free — Explorer Tier)
- Trail Discovery — browse the full DOC trail catalog, search by region, difficulty, duration, and keyword. Filter by hut availability, campsite proximity, and Great Walk status.
- Trip Planning — build multi-day itineraries, add stops (trails, huts, campsites), reorder legs, and keep notes for each day.
- Public Sharing — publish any trip with a shareable link. Perfect for sending plans to your tramping party or writing up a trip for friends.
- Demographic Lenses — view trails through the lens of families, photographers, or fitness-focused trampers.
Premium Features (Trekker Tier)
- Offline Maps — download tile packs for regions with no cell coverage, so you always have the map when you need it.
- Custom Routes — draw your own routes on the map and import GPX files from other apps.
- Fitness Tracking — sync with Garmin and Strava, view heart-rate analysis and elevation profiles.
- GPX Import & Export — bring routes in from other apps or export your Tiki Tours trips to use elsewhere.
- Push Notifications — get alerts when trail conditions change on routes you have saved.
- PDF & iCal Export — generate printable trip summaries and add trip dates to your calendar.
