The foreshore of the Greys Dam Amenity area closed

The foreshore of the Greys Dam Amenity area within Gabriels Gully Historic Reserve has been closed under the Reserves Act 1977 [section 58(d)]. Due to the amenity area being in the immediate flash flood impact zone if Otago Dam, (located above Greys Dam), fails. A fence and signs have been installed to close the foreshore. The closure will remain in place until work on Otago Dam has been undertaken to reduce the risk. The area outside of the fenced zone remains open. Otago Dam Track remains open, adhere to all hazard warnings if walking the track. First published on 5 March 2026.
