Track closures for kauri disease protection work

Work has begun but the following tracks remain closed: Wharawhara Tramway Track Wharawhara Link Track Te Rereatukahia Hut Track Note: Waitawheta Tramway Track to Waitawheta Hut is open. Note: Old North/South track is an expert route. The track is unmaintained and in some places unmarked. The terrain is muddy, rugged and steep and there are multiple stream crossings. Due to the terrain, be prepared to add up to 4 hours extra hiking between the two huts or find a comfortable spot to pitch a tent.
