Access route to Hooker Hut is closed
Hooker Valley Track is partially closed, as the second bridge over Hooker River is being replaced. This bridge is part of the route to Hooker Hut. There is no reasonable alternative access route to Hooker Hut. Hooker River is deep, swift and very cold, it is not safe to cross without a bridge. Do not try to walk the closed section of Hooker Valley Track as it is an active construction zone. The hut is open for emergency shelter but there are no bookings available.
