Wallaby control operation for Ruataniwha Conservation Park
As part of the Tipu Mātoro National Wallaby Eradication Programme Environment Canterbury (ECAN) plan to distribute toxic cereal bait pellets containing 1080 by helicopter between 27–28 July 2026, depending on the weather. Ruataniwha Conservation Park will remain open. The operation is from the Darts Bush area through to the Duncan Stream area/Rhoboro Hills and Rhoboro Downs. You are advised not to walk tracks on the days of the operation. See the pesticide summary for a map of the area There will also be an additional application in August 2026.
