Wallaby control for Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park
Environment Canterbury intend to carry out a ground search and destroy operation for wallabies using dogs and rifles in Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park between 22 June – 3 July 2026. See operation map (PDF, 2,024K) The operation is part of the Tipu Mātoro National Wallaby Eradication Programme. Warning signage will be installed at all normal points of entry. Operations on public conservation land (marked as DOC/PCL on map) will only take place on weekdays. Night shooting with thermal imaging equipment may be used if needed. This operation will be for wallabies only.
