Track closures for kauri disease protection work

Several tracks remain closed for kauri protection and storm damage, including slips, fallen trees, washouts, damaged structures, and compromised kauri hygiene measures. Do not enter closed areas or bypass closures. Closed tracks: Lindemann Loop Track Waitengaue Track Tuahu (East) Track (Hot Springs Road) Wharawhara Tramway Track Low-Level Track (Waiorongomai Valley) due to significant slips Note: All other Waiorongomai Valley tracks remain open. Open tracks: Te Rereatukahia Hut Track Tuahu (West) Track (Wairakau Road) – open, but caution is required at a slip site. Avoid in adverse weather. Waitawheta Tramway Tracks Access to Te Rereatukahia Hut: Te Rereatukahia Hut Track via Wharawhara Road Tuahu (West) Track Open North/South Track entrances

  • Wharawhara Tramway Track
  • Low-Level Track (Waiorongomai Valley) due to significant slips

Note: All other Waiorongomai Valley tracks remain open.

  • Te Rereatukahia Hut Track
