Wallaby Control for parts of Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park May/June
Environment Canterbury intend to carry out a ground search and destroy operation for wallabies using dogs and rifles in part of Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park. This will take place from 25 May to 19 June 2026 (weekdays only and excluding holidays). The control work will be thermal night shooting with 3-4 operators and 8-12 dogs. Warning signage will be installed at all normal points of entry. Visitors are advised to avoid these areas or keep to formed tracks.
